Hackmos Workshop: Optimum Bounty Introduction & Academic Session
Road to Hackmos - Virtual Event
The Road to Hackmos virtual event starts now.
If you are planning to hack at Hackmos and join the Cosmoverse developers track, you might want to join this session.
Content and Objectives
This one-hour session introduces the Optimum bounty and prize pool to Hackmos developers - set to take place as Hybrid hackathon from Oct. 23 - Nov.1.
Agenda (UTC-Time):
16:00 - Introduction Cosmoverse
16:05 - Introduction Optimum
16:50 - Q&A
Optimum Bounty:
Unlike typical hackathons, where you build apps, here the focus is on running experiments, collecting results, and presenting insights. Think of it as "hands-on research at hackathon speed.
Wondering which challenge(s) you want to enter for? Here's the breakdown:
Protocol Experiments Track
Problem Statement
Run controlled experiments comparing GossipSub vs OptimumP2P under different conditions (latency, bandwidth, reliability). The goal is to empirically prove where OptimumP2P is superior.
Subcategory 1: Compare the latency of the two networks under varying publishing rates, message sizes, and related factors.
Subcategory 2: Compare the latency of the two networks across different network sizes and related configurations.
Prizes
$1000 + paid coaching opportunity
Scaling & Stress Test Track
Problem Statement
Push the network to its limits by varying message sizes, shard factors, thresholds, mesh density, and load until you find breakpoints. Document what conditions OptimumP2P keeps working while GossipSub fails.
Subcategory 1: Analyze the latency of the OptimumP2P protocol under different parameter settings, such as mesh degree, shard factors, and related variables.
Subcategory 2: Measure the latency of operations when publishing messages with varying sizes, publishing rates, and publishing locations.
Prizes
$1000 + paid coaching opportunity
Visualization & Insights Track
Problem Statement
Not everyone codes: collect logs, metrics, and traces from running experiments and turn them into dashboards, charts, and explainers. Help make OptimumP2P results easy to understand by validators, researchers, and developers.
Prizes
