About Event

Children and young people are growing up in a digital environment that is evolving faster than our ability to protect them. From addictive platform design and online exploitation to AI-powered nudify apps, the manosphere, algorithmic amplification and other emerging harms, the challenge has become systemic.

While awareness is growing, our collective response has yet to match the speed and scale of these developments.

No single organisation, sector or policy can address this challenge alone. The question is no longer whether we need to act, but how we act - together.

About the Dialogue

This invitation-only systems dialogue brings together leaders from government, regulators, industry, civil society, research, media and affected communities to explore one simple but urgent question:

What will it take to keep the next generation safe?

Together we will discuss:

  • The most pressing digital harms affecting girls and boys today - and how these are evolving.

  • The changes needed across technology, regulation, education, business, enforcement and society.

  • How we can strengthen collaboration in the Netherlands while connecting to fast-moving European and global developments, including the opportunities presented by the Digital Services Act, trusted flaggers and stronger public-interest collaboration.

Our goal is not to solve these challenges in a single conversation, but to strengthen the relationships, and to build a shared understanding and momentum towards collective action in the Netherlands and beyond.

Contributors & "Firestarters" include Danielle Batist and Merel Uildriks (Smartphone Vrij Opgroeien), Manon Leijten (Bestuurder, Autoriteit Consument & Markt), Anna Strolenberg (Member of the European Parliament), and Karlijn Han (Advocaat Media, Big Tech, IE, Privacy en Fundamentele Rechten, Boekx Advocaten).

The session will be held under the Chatham House Rule: Participants are free to use the ideas and insights shared, but neither the identity nor affiliation of speakers or participants may be revealed. Reflections, key takeaways and imagery may be shared afterwards without attribution.
