Children’s Media Creators Coworking: Ocean Week Edition

​How do we make stories about Puget Sound and the ocean that children actually want to read, watch, play, and hear?

​For One Ocean Week Seattle, our regular coworking session invites children’s media creators to explore that question together. Bring an ocean-related project you’re working on—or an idea you’ve wanted time to start. Books, games, animation, music, curriculum, podcasts, video, and other forms of media are all welcome.

​This is a gathering for adult creators making things for children, not a children’s class.

​We’ll start with a brief check-in: What are you creating? What would you like to finish today? Do you want feedback or uninterrupted focus? Then we’ll work alongside one another and regroup near the end to share progress and useful connections.

​Writers, illustrators, educators, filmmakers, game designers, musicians, founders, and ocean advocates are welcome. You don’t need to be an ocean expert. If you work in marine science or conservation and have an idea that could help children connect with your work, we’d love to meet you, too.

​Bring your laptop, manuscript, sketchbook, headphones, or whatever helps you create. This is primarily coworking and accountability, with room for conversation and collaboration.

​When: Wednesday, October 21, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM
Where: SURF Incubator, 999 Third Avenue, Suite 700, Seattle
Pricing: $10 early bird; $15 day of. Free for current SURF and SWELL members. Early bird pricing ends one day before the event.

​Admission includes workspace, Wi-Fi, power, snacks, and complimentary coffee. You may arrive late or leave early; please keep disruptions minimal while others are working.
