pan.talk x OxAI: 2036 What Future Are We Building?
OXAI, the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Society, brings a workshop on the future to Swiss {ai} Weeks. Not predictions, not doom. A structured session where you build the decade ahead yourself, then work out what it would take to get there.
It is 2036. You wake up and ask your agent what matters today. It has already found the missing email, coordinated your schedule, handled the routine work, and identified the decisions that genuinely require you.
What changed, and what happened to the way we work?
In this interactive workshop, OXAI will take participants from what AI agents can already do today to the futures they might create. Through examples from current AI research and a live demonstration of a personal agentic ecosystem, we will explore what agents are, how they differ from chatbots, and why they have not yet caused the disruption many expected.
We will trace how work moves through people, software, and decisions, and ask what changes when agents enter the flow. Which tasks disappear? What new possibilities emerge? And why do today’s interfaces and fragmented systems still stand in the way?
Then we turn to 2036. In small groups, participants will redesign an everyday workflow for an agentic world. What can agents decide for themselves? When should they interrupt a human? Which choices still require judgment, values, relationships, or responsibility? And if screens and administrative friction fade away, what might we choose to do instead?
This is not a prediction of one inevitable future. It is an invitation to understand the transformation, challenge our assumptions, and discuss the future we want to build.
That is what OXAI seeks to foster: bringing students and researchers closer to frontier AI, connecting people across disciplines, and creating spaces where technological and societal questions can be explored together.
