Big Screen Hack: AI Shorts + The Odyssey on IMAX
βπ¬ The biggest Big Screen Hack yet, and our first on an IMAX.
βOn Friday 16 October we take over the IMAX in South Kensington, right in the middle of London Film Festival week. You see brand new work first, watch a series get commissioned, then stay for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. You're invited.
βHow we got here π
βA year ago Big Screen Hack was a 24-hour experiment at BFI Stephen Street. We put filmmakers and AI developers in one room and showed what they made on a cinema screen. More than 20 films came in.
βIn May, 180 people made films in 48 hours, and 14 of them screened at CinΓ©um Cannes during festival week. The winner went on to pick up an international award and now makes work for Tottenham Hotspur and Riyadh Air.
βIn June we were in New York for Tribeca week, talking about how AI film gets financed.
βNow we're back in London for the biggest one we've ever done.
βThis time it's about getting work made πΌ
β470 creators around the world have worked flat out for five days to bring their concepts to market: pilots, micro dramas and adverts, built to be bought, commissioned and developed.
βOn the night, one of them gets commissioned as a series with Fairground and StoryMachine.
βThese are some of the posters made during the week. The best of the films behind them premiere on the IMAX this Friday.
βSome of these ideas could grow into shows you come to know and love. If they do, you saw them first, on the IMAX, during London Film Festival week.
βThe night πΏ
βπ₯ 7pm Doors open with popcorn, drinks and snacks, and the people who made the films are all around you.
βπ₯ 7.30pm The premieres. Judges including Emmy-winning editor Tom Kinnersly chose the very best, and they fill the IMAX screen for the first time.
βπ In the break, we hand out the awards in the lobby and find out which project gets commissioned as a series.
βπ Then stay in your seat. The night closes with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey on the IMAX. It's sold out at the IMAX for most of this year, and your ticket includes it.
βWho's in the room
βFilmmakers, AI developers, buyers, distributors, commissioners, brands and press. The conversations you start here could shape your next project.
