Seabright/Soquel: What We Can Do
The event has passed. Want to get involved? Email Bruce at bva@cruzio.com. We'd love to have you aboard.
Seabright Community Meeting
Join Seabright neighbors to discuss the proposed real estate development project on the corner of Seabright and Soquel.
There's room for nuance in this conversation. Most, if not all, of us support affordable housing. We live in the most expensive rental market in the country and we want to help our community stay here.
And yes, there are forces beyond our control, including State laws and private ownership of the plot.
But there are plenty of things we can do to oppose and demand modifications to any plans! We need housing that fits with our neighborhoods. It's important to speak out now, and let the developers and the city know what concerns we have.
Join us to learn about the development process and to discuss what we can do about this project.
What You Can Do Today
Plan to join us on Sunday Aug 30th at 1pm.
Share this with a friend or two!
Complete the City's Design Guidelines survey (due in August). This informs creation of objective standards that can't be ignored by developers (vs. subjective standards): English | Spanish
Email the city planner: Rina Zhou, Senior Planner. rzhou@santacruzca.gov. Share your experience, ask questions. Ask about a traffic/circulation study, parking ratios. Privacy design (e.g. balconies that look into adjacent homes), fire (ask for the Fire Marshal’s review). Demand designs like landscaping, mature trees, setbacks.
Get everything in writing.
*This is a nonpartisan event. Ami and Ryan supporters are all welcome, as well as folks who don’t know yet!
