Badger Ball: A Celebration of Peter Bellwood
Join us for an evening celebrating the outrageous and love-filled life of our bookmark-dispensing, ukulele-strumming, writer-championing badger: Peter Bellwood.
A fixture in Ojai's theatrical circuit (and on the patio of the Coffee Connection), Peter touched many lives in his 86 years on earth. This gathering will help us remember his eccentricity, wit, and heart. Bring your favorite anecdotes and biggest hugs. We can't wait to see you at Oak Grove School's lovely outdoor gazebo on July 19th.
᠅ Dress code: Peter's favorite color was purple, and his dress sense, as anyone who ever saw him around town can attest, was eclectic. In his honor, wear something extravagant and colorful that makes you feel good.
᠅ Weather: Ojai in July can be TOASTY, but cools off once the sun goes down. We'll be outdoors under trees and umbrellas, and the gazebo is covered. Bring a layer to stay comfy as night falls.
᠅ Refreshments: Since this event is being held at Oak Grove School, we cannot have alcohol or meat on campus. However! There will be ample and delicious nonalcoholic beverages provided, along with a dessert and cheese spread to follow the speakers. We encourage everyone to have an early dinner (and drink, if you enjoy that sort of thing) before joining us.
᠅ Speakers: We've preselected our speakers lest the celebration go on all night, but we would so love it if you'd bring a written memory of Peter to leave on our Badger Altar. We'll also have some options for writing/recording things on the spot in case you think of a story during the gathering.
᠅ Tentative Schedule:
6:30-7pm - Arrivals, hugs, seating, laughter.
7-8:30pm - Speeches (and music from The Household Gods!)
8:30-10pm - Mingling and dessert/snack buffet under the stars.
