A municipal engagement weekend. Oct 24-25, Toronto.
For people who want to build a better city. Spend the weekend with a team and a mentor making something Toronto can use: an app, a working prototype, or a plan for how government could work better.
WHAT YOU CAN BUILD
Apps and prototypes: tools that fix something residents deal with every day that match plans and proposals, policy ideas, service redesigns, and budget or data analyses that City Hall could act on.
Tracks:
housing - starts have fallen 10% year-over-year
transit - Toronto subway delay time has gotten 53% worse
safer streets - 70% of Torontonians are worried about crime
more efficient municipal government - (enough said)
Idea starter: reporting mechanisms. Tools that let residents report a problem and track what the City does about it.
THE WEEKEND Saturday from 11:30am: casual networking, then panels with Toronto tech and policy leaders and roundtables where you put your questions to the panelists. Building starts in the afternoon, with mentor hours for every team. Sunday: final sprints and a roundtable, then present your work at the closing finale. After the election, the best work goes to City Hall in your names.

Mentors and speakers: choose the Mentor or Speaker ticket below and tell us what you'd bring. Applications close Tuesday, Oct 20 at 11:59pm and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
