The Ethereum File System by James Carnley
The early internet felt personal. Today, most of the web is rented space.
Enter the Ethereum File System (EFS). Ethereum is the World Computer, but it has always been missing a hard drive. EFS fills that missing primitive: an open-source, fully onchain namespace for organizing files, data, and digital spaces without gatekeepers. With EFS, we can build a decentralized internet archive for shared knowledge while giving every user a sovereign digital home.
What does that actually look like? Imagine navigating to an address like JamesCarnley.eth and finding a fully customizable, MySpace-style profile. You can display your favorite memes, curate a "Top 8" friends list, set your own auto-playing background music, or dive into endless community-curated galleries of internet culture, all natively onchain and entirely sovereign.
Join James Carnley for a rapid-fire overview of how EFS works under the hood, why user-curated spaces beat centralized algorithms, and a live demo of the newly launched devnet. We are actively looking for feedback, testers, and builders to help shape this open-source public good.
