When Psychology Meets UX is an event series created for UX designers and product thinkers who are curious about the human side of decision-making and how it shows up in real products.
What you can expect
In this session, Florie Salnot from nebenan.de shares how her product design team has always believed that framing the right problem is the most valuable thing a designer can do, and why that belief matters more than ever now that AI has made building faster and cheaper than ever. Speed to build also means it's easier to pour real effort into the wrong thing. The most valuable work designers do is often the question they ask before the team commits to building.
Through two real stories from nebenan, a neighbourhood platform where community trust is essentially the product, she shows how stepping back to understand users more deeply changed what the team decided to focus on, and what they chose not to pursue. Along the way, she also shows how AI isn't only accelerating production: it's giving small teams new ways to go deeper on understanding than ever before.
You will leave with a concrete view of how a small design team uses research to make better decisions in a fast-moving organisation, and why the moment before building has become the part that matters most.
After the talk, we'll leave plenty of time to hang out, meet new people, and keep the conversation going over snacks and drinks.
