In a world that tells us women that we aren’t complete without a significant other, we are left seeking, searching and yearning.
Through social media, cultural/societal norms, Hollywood programming and the wedding industry, we are constantly inundated with this message. Our psyche is flooded with images of that dream wedding, the myth of a perfect romance, and the longing for an ideal partner.
We craft ourselves to be “attractive,” to be deemed worthy of another’s consistent attention, and to be “chosen.”
I myself have had quite the hero’s journey in this department. When I did have a long term relationship, one that was witnessed by the public eye, I felt special, with a (false) sense of security. Ultimately, this “union” that I personally had been showcasing and glorifying, crumbled overnight — leaving me to question everything I ever knew.
But even then, for two years after my divorce, I propagated the illusion - replacing the false security with the search for my “real” beloved - a soul mate, a life partner, a husband.
This search was abundant with unconscious projections and shadow patterns that had yet to be truly assessed and integrated.
I then landed in the Amazon rainforest for the third time in 18 months, this time to do a strict and profound one month dieta with a woman and master pajé named Hushahu Yawanawá. On the other side of the dieta, truth began to emerge, and finally - finally - I found freedom.
But it wasn’t just that simple. This journey has been rich with interpersonal dynamics and harsh lessons through various mirrors and shadow explorations. I now can share this without shame, because it brought me here: to a place of true self awareness and therefore liberation.
I’m ready to share, and to invite women along with me in this beautiful discovery and re-coding. It is time.
