About Event

​​​This new program provides recurring time and space for Asian American women leaders in the arts to evolve as change-makers and hone their leadership skills within a supportive community. Led by AAWAA’s Board President Angela Han, attendees will:

  • Learn about historical Asian women change-makers – including but not limited to Grace Lee Boggs, Kurmanjan Datka, Noor Inayat Khan, Keumalahayati, and Phoolan Devi – and their strategies for impactful leadership.

  • Discuss how to use these strategies effectively within the communities we lead.

There will be 15 minutes before and after the Leadership Hour for attendees to connect with each other.

ELIGIBILITY

This program is for current AAWAA members, best suited for those who identify as leaders in the arts (visual, performing, literary, etc).

  • Your biography (max. 250 words)

  • One paragraph about your leadership experience

ABOUT ANGELA

Angela Han is a Chinese-American multidisciplinary creator (artist, musician, educator, researcher, storyteller, and curator) who builds speculative worlds through art, music, and storytelling. She is the recipient of the San Francisco Arts Commission Artists Grant (2021) and Arts Impact Endowment Grant (2025) as well as California Arts Council Individual Artists Fellowship (2023) and YoungArts Fellowship (2025). Her notable projects amplify the courage and creativity of women, such as “50 Mythical Worlds Inspired by 50 Women Composers” (2020), “Realms of Courage: Celebrating Asian Women Composers” (2021 – present), “With a Twist: Stories of Her Own” (2024), “Journey of 1000 Miles: A Multimedia Concert Series Featuring AAPI Women Composers, Performers, and Artists” (2025), and “Meng Nu Xia Shan (Fierce Women Descend the Mountain)” (2025 – present).
