About Event

London is one of the most connected cities in the world but behind every click is infrastructure, energy, and impact.
The future of London isn’t just physical—it’s digital too.
And everyone here has a role in shaping it. Today we’re exploring something we all use but rarely see—
the hidden world of data, AI and the infrastructure powering London.

From streaming in Camden to commuting across London Underground, everything runs on data—and that has a real impact on energy and climate. This Data Decarb community event will bring together - data science, decarbonisation, data centres, and AI - in a fun way making it accessible and engaging for people from all backgrounds, with little or no prior knowledge.

Join us for a two hour session with fun and games such as:

  • Power the City - Interactive Game | A team-based simulation where participants run a mini “city” and must balance energy, data use, and carbon emissions.

  • What Uses Energy? Live Guessing Game | A fun, surprising quiz about everyday digital activities.

  • AI for Good or Bad? Debate Corners | Participants move between corners of the room based on their opinion.

  • Family Challenge: “Design a Low-Carbon Digital Life | Teams redesign a household’s digital habits.

  • Inside a Data Centre” Interactive Explainer | Demystify data centres with simple language.

This event is hosted by the Knowledge Quarter and the Somers Town Community Association.
