The Spring Equinox is the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator, marking the official beginning of spring and the point when day and night are equal in length.

Broadway Studios and Mabuhay Gardens have been host to Louis Armstrong, Allen Ginsburg, Blondie, Robin Williams, Dave Chappelle, Metallica, Dead Kennedys, Blondie, The Police, Ramones, Devo, The Go-Go’s, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and Whoopi Goldberg. 

Nigeria’s legendary guitar master and singer Adesoji “”Soji”” Odukogbe was, among other things, the lead guitarist for Fela Kuti for five years. Odukogbe draws on an extensive background in Nigerian Afrobeat, highlife, and spiritual music, bringing a unique sensibility to his highlife guitar interpretations.

Los Bahianatos [by*ya*NAH*tos] specialize in Colombian Cumbia and Vallenato featuring the button accordion, with a little psychedelic Peruvian Chicha on electric guitar thrown in for good measure. Founded in Oakland, California, during the early months of the pandemic, Los Bahianatos remain the premier cumbia and vallenato group in ‘La Bahia’ de San Francisco.

Blending the dance-inspiring rhythms of American funk and soul jazz with harmonies and melodies from East Africa, Sun Hop Fat is the premier Bay Area ensemble devoted to embracing and expanding the Ethiopian Jazz tradition, while adding its own distinctive NorCal flavor.

Singing The Bones is a diasporic healing project, a collaboration of 3 American artists from different ancestries sharing folk and roots music of our ancestral cultures. Kele Nitoto plays songs from the Congo, Haiti, South Africa, M’Gilvry Allen from Ireland, Scotland, and Sweden, and Lydia Violet from Iran and Armenia. As we take turns centering the music from these places, we musically support each other in arrangement and performance, creating a multi-cultural, rich performance.This engages a mix of performance and community singing, as we also teach some of these root songs to the audience, facilitating community music-making in a supportive, accessible environment.

Rasika Dance is SF Bay Area based contemporary dance company steeped in inspiration from Indian Folk, Court, Classical and Temple Dance traditions mixed with Tribal Fusion Bellydance.

String, Skin & Breath is a global improvisational ensemble that blends ancient traditions with contemporary expression. They create spontaneous musical journeys shaped by deep listening and collective intuition. Drawing inspiration from Persian and North African modes, chamber music, global folk traditions, and jazz improvisation. Rooted in the belief that music transcends borders, String, Skin & Breath invites listeners into a shared space of exploration—where melody and rhythm evolve moment by moment and no two performances are the same.

Bijan is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in the Armenian duduk flute and classical guitar. His music blends ancient folk melodies with devotional atmospheres, holding sacred space while carrying a modern sensibility. His work bridges ancestral sound with contemporary expression.

Award-winning Flamenco Artist Mizuho Sato was born in Iwate, Japan and started classical ballet at the age of three. She later developed a love for flamenco, the art form from Andalucía, Spain. Focusing on flamenco’s intricate and complex rhythms, she will play live percussion, showcase her “taconeo” (footwork) talents, and move with the fluidity of upper body expression using “braceo” (arm movements) and “floreo” (hand movements).

Kelley Mountain is a San Francisco-based dancer and movement facilitator who founded Goddess Modern, a practice that integrates contemporary dance, ritual movement, and somatic embodiment. Her work focuses on the intersection of feminine empowerment and expressive performance, drawing from her background in modern dance and traditional ritual arts. Through workshops and private sessions, she guides participants to explore their internal power and sensuality through fluid, rhythmic choreography.

Zhenya Rock is not just another name in the music industry; he’s a phenomenon. With over three decades of experience, Zhenya has carved out a unique niche by fusing Romani (Gypsy) and Balkan folk traditions with rock and jazz elements. This unparalleled blend has not only set new benchmarks in guitar music but has also made him one of the most sought-after live performers of his generation. Zhenya’s music is like a cultural melting pot. He takes the soul of Romani and Balkan folk music, adds the edgy vibes of rock, and throws in the freedom of jazz. It’s more than just tunes; it’s a statement about how music can bring worlds together.

Nicole Maria is a multi-award-winning dancer based in the San Francisco Bay Area, known for her elegance, artistry, and captivating stage presence. With over a decade of experience studying and performing both contemporary and traditional Arabic dance, she brings authenticity, grace, and excitement to every performance. She was recently featured as a soloist in the renowned San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, one of the nation’s premier showcases of global dance traditions.

warble (oshan anand) has spent thirty years being shaped by sound, wild and wondrous signal shapes cutting, layering, and bending him, changing the way he moved. His style pulls from dub’s depth, folk tradition’s memory, and the open architecture of post-genre electronics, stitching them together into something designed to mutate dancers, opening new angles in the body and trajectories of escape from the mind.
