COMM CONVO: WHEN COMMUNICATIONS SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED

Some of communications’ highest-value contributions leave little visible evidence: an issue is contained before it escalates, employees absorb a major change without widespread confusion, an executive enters a difficult moment prepared, or the company changes course before creating a stakeholder problem. These outcomes are easily overlooked because the disruption never materializes, yet claiming credit for what might have happened can quickly become speculative.

This Comm Convo explores how communicators can make preventive value visible without overstating it, from defining successful outcomes before the stakes rise to documenting where communications judgment shaped decisions, reduced friction, or preserved trust. We’ll also discuss how to build leaders’ understanding of the preparation, relationships, and counsel behind moments that appear to have gone smoothly on their own.
