Stochastic Labs presents: Lance Weiler + The Dead Internet Museum

​Dead Internet Museum (DIM) imagines a near-future Internet haunted by automation, synthetic media, invisible labor, surveillance, and compliance. Co-created by The Last Human Collective, DIM is a prototype from the Columbia DSL that blends immersive theatre, participatory design, and play into an experience where visitors become active participants in the systems they encounter.

Dead Internet Museum has been developed through a series of public prototypes, including presentations at Lincoln Center and the Museum of the Moving Image. Each iteration has helped shape the evolving experience through audience participation, experimentation, and feedback. The TIAT presentation marks the project’s next public prototype before it expands into a 10,000-square-foot immersive exhibition at MAD Arts later this fall.

The Last Human Collective currently includes Lance Weiler, Shar Simpson, Nicholas Fortugno, Josh Corn, Tanya Vlach, Hillary Chew, Alex Hera, Diana Nguyen... and, perhaps, you.

Lance Weiler is an artist and Sundance Screenwriters Lab alumnus whose work spans film, theatre, games, installation, and participatory performance. His projects invite audiences to shape the experience, often using technology as a material rather than a subject.

​His work has been presented at Sundance, Art Basel, the High Line, Lincoln Center, and the Portland Art Museum, and developed in collaboration with organizations including the National Theatre and the Museum of the Moving Image. He is the founding director of Columbia University’s Digital Storytelling Lab where artists, designers, and technologists prototype new forms of narrative.
