If memories remain, does the person?
We often assume that making something easier also makes it better.
In a future where digital clones can reconstruct the departed from fragments of memory, a family is offered the chance to bring back someone they lost.
But as the clone begins to uncover forgotten parts of the original person’s past, an unsettling question emerges: do we want the full picture of a person, or only the curated version? And... can a person truly be reduced to memory?
Come unravel the future with Yi YUAN.
Yi YUAN (YY) has been at the forefront of developing spatial intelligence solutions for enterprises and governments, as well as advancing futuristic storytelling. Holding an MSc in Analytic Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, her work sits at the intersection of technology, philosophy, and narrative.
When asked how she perceives the world, she often returns to a simple idea: to keep asking “why” and “why not.”
An evening where backyard meets speculative futures, we gather around 制造爸爸 (CN) / Creating Dad (Translated EN), an Eastern Wood science-fiction original, and explore what it means to compress something as complex as a human life into a version that is easier to carry, remember, or love.
The Space: Open Sourced (OS)
Nested in Rochor, OS is an inclusive builder space partnered with Nana Dolly’s, a local Peranakan café run by Alvin, a fourth-generation Baba who is passionate about sharing the classic flavours of his childhood with a modern twist.
Whether you're an advocate of human-centric living or learner of sorts, this is your space to exchange perspectives and stories with others, and unravel the future.
Fair warning: conversations may get unexpectedly thoughtful.
