About the event

BETTER EARTH MEDIA NONPROFIT ORG PRESENTS:

What We Owe the Earth: On Planetary Duty

What do we owe the planet that sustains us? And where does the powerful sense of duty that fuels environmental activism come from?
This conversation in the beautiful Drawing Room at Soho Warehouse explores our collective responsibility toward planetary protection, with a focus on law, collectivity, artistic expression, and the often life-changing impulse to act on behalf of the Earth. We’ll reflect on planetary duties—an experimental, evolving concept that plays with legal language and the balance between rights and obligations, while more informally asking what it means to give something back.

Featuring panelists Tori Tsui, environmental campaigner, advisor, and author of It’s Not Just You, and Melissa Jun Rowley, Director of Communications at REVERB, the leading sustainability partner of the music industry driving environmental justice, green touring, and clean energy at major festivals, and a representative from ClientEarth (name to be confirmed), an organization that works across borders, systems, and sectors, using the law to protect life on Earth.

Together, we’ll discuss activism as duty, art as a form of giving beyond the strictly human, and the shared work of witnessing, taking action, and acknowledging the “other”—including non-humans, climate systems, and the planet itself.

Complimentary plant-based snacks will be provided.

ALL attendees are required to RSVP with their full names, as Soho House is a private club and requires a guest list for entry.

If you’re unable to attend, please let us know at betterearthmedia@gmail.com at least three days in advance so we can offer the seat to someone else. Seating is limited.

This event is organized by Annalisa Giolo Dunker and hosted by Jane Elizabeth and Annalisa Giolo Dunker of Better Earth Media.
