About Event

Three weeks into the collective writing workshop. I'm delighted with emails from participants, colleagues and friends saying that attending the workshop and writing collectively has been useful to them that week. I've found the post-exercise discussions most energising — we listen to get a sense of what each of us has done with the cues and props of the writing exercise. It's especially exciting to see how emotions, ideas, philosophies and concepts are shaped by the writing exercise itself. In Week Three, the first exercise 'Again, Again and Again' required us to create narrative with structural repetition, and I kept asking myself why I had chosen the research topic, and each time there a different voice and a different answer to this question appeared.

The best part about writing collectively is that it allows you to discover parts of yourself as a writer you haven't met yet, writing has always been solitary work for me. So far we have collectively worked on fiction, life writing, creative nonfiction, monographs, research on genocide, neoliberal capitalism, mental health, reproductive labour, feminist Marxism, and somatic movement practice. Friday 8.30 GMT with link in comments if you'd like to join.

[Notes : Spots are £1 for any first-time participants, this keeps the group intentional and ensures that space is held for those who intend to come.]
