​What if the future of climate action and societal resilience depends less on new institutions and more on families choosing stewardship over charity, aligning long-term capital with communities, well-being, and the living systems that sustain us all?

​Across the world, economic and social systems are under strain trust is eroding, institutions are weakening, and climate and nature risks are accelerating faster than traditional funding models can respond. In this context, philanthropy and private capital face a defining choice: continue fragmented, short-cycle interventions, or step into a deeper role as long-term stewards of societal and ecological resilience.

This session explores how family philanthropy and family enterprise can move from giving to stewardship strengthening community institutions, rebuilding the social contract, and restoring balance between markets, the state, and civil society. Drawing on lived experience from India and beyond, including the 1,000 Families for the Planet movement, the dialogue examines how values-led families are aligning capital with climate and nature outcomes while reinforcing local leadership, trust, and well-being.

Bridging Eastern community-first traditions and Western institutional frameworks, the session highlights how families across generations can catalyse systems-level change by coordinating capital, governance, and partnerships in service of people, planet, and long-term resilience.
