BikeBus: Khayelitsha to Open Langa
Join Friends of the Active Mobility Forum (AMF) for a special BikeBus from Khayelitsha to Open Langa on Sunday, 25 October 2026!
Taking place on the final day of Design Week South Africa and during October Transport Month, we're bringing cyclists together for a group ride connecting Khayelitsha and Langa.
Our destination is Open Langa, a community-led Open Streets celebration championed by Langa Bicycle Hub and its partners. For the day, sections of Langa's streets will be transformed into car-free public spaces filled with music, art, cycling, community activities and local businesses.
The BikeBus is an opportunity to experience Cape Town by bicycle, connect with fellow riders and support the movement for safer, more accessible and people-friendly streets.
We'll meet at Khaltsha Cycles in Khayelitsha before riding together to Langa. After spending the afternoon at Open Langa, we'll return to Khayelitsha as a group.
Route and schedule for Sunday, 25 October 2026
10:30 | Meet at Khaltsha Cycles, 1 Julius Tsolo Street, Khayelitsha
11:00 | BikeBus departs from Khaltsha Cycles
12:15 | Arrive at Open Langa, Open Streets celebration
12:15 to 15:00 | Enjoy Open Langa, explore the activities and support local businesses
15:00 | Depart Langa for the return ride
16:00-ish | Arrive back at Khaltsha Cycles in Khayelitsha. Ride ends.
All are welcome. Bring your bicycle, helmet, water, and some spending money to support local businesses in Langa.
Bike rental will be R80 + helmet. We only have 10 bikes available
The BikeBus will start and finish at Khaltsha Cycles, 1 Julius Tsolo Street, Khayelitsha.
