We meet early in the morning in Alcochete, just as the day begins to unfold. Starting at 8:30am allows us to witness the salt flats at their most alive — when the light is soft, the air is still, and local fauna is easier to spot, especially the many bird species that inhabit this unique ecosystem.
We head to the Salinas do Samouco, where history, human craft and nature exist in quiet harmony. As we walk through this extraordinary landscape, we explore stories of the land, observe its rhythms, and engage all our senses — listening, touching and tasting wild halophyte plants that have long inspired both tradition and contemporary cuisine.
From the landscape, we move to the table.
We gather at a local traditional Portuguese restaurant in Alcochete, where lunch becomes a moment to land, connect and share. After the sensory immersion of the morning, the flavours feel deeper — rooted in place, memory and season. This is where conversation flows easily, and the experience continues through taste and togetherness.
We close with a gentle walk through town.
A slow wander along Alcochete’s waterfront, with open views over the Tagus River and Lisbon beyond — a final moment to digest, reflect and enjoy the simplicity of being together in a beautiful place.

An international designer, now also a community builder, Ana channels her creative spirit into crafting memorable gatherings. She’s a proud mom to a vibrant 5-year-old, an avid ceramic collector, and blends her artistry and hospitality to create inviting spaces where stories are shared and friendships are formed.
