==================================
Talk 1 (Lightning Talk): Codex Obscura: Ruby Edition by Philip Schalm

Description: Lightning talk on interesting/obscure Ruby tricks with practical applications.

Bio: Philip Schalm is a senior developer at Jane.app where he and a few others help Jane to scale a legacy Rails monolith in some unique ways amidst the ever increasing flurry of feature development.  Prior to Jane he spent over a decade doing all sorts of interesting data parsing and web scraping work (all written in Ruby, of course) and he’s been dabbling with the language since the 1.8 days.

Talk 2: Supply Chain (in)Security - By Lawson Jaglom-Kurtz of Shopify

Come get a glimpse of the other (darker) side of Ruby supply chain security. In this session, we’ll explore the world of supply chain insecurity exclusively through the eyes on an attacker. We’ll cover why we (as attackers) covet supply chain vulnerabilities, what it looks like to exploit them, how we use them to get closer to what we really want, and how disastrous the consequences can be for you, your company, and the broader community.

Bio

Lawson Jaglom-Kurtz is a professional Rubyist and technical lead of Shopify's Red Team, an internal group of hackers who simulate real-world attacks against the company. There, he spends his days writing malware (sometimes in Ruby ❤️) and stealing money, secrets, and data. Prior to joining the dark side, Lawson spent over a decade building Ruby on Rails apps of every imaginable shape and size at Shopify, Viget, and beyond.
