Launch of the Conscious Advertising Network's Policy Platform

Advertising plays a critical role in shaping the information environment, but today’s ecosystem is under growing strain.

The digital advertising ecosystem funds the platforms where billions of people access information. Where advertising money flows determines what content gets created, what journalism survives, and what voices are amplified or silenced. The UN Global Principles for Information Integrity (2024) recognised this reality by explicitly identifying advertisers as key stakeholders.

Existing legislation and regulation is complex, creating loopholes that the big tech is able to exploit. We must address the root cause of these problems: the business model of the platforms and its impact on democracy, fundamental rights, prosperity and information integrity.

This event marks the launch of CAN’s Policy Platform, outlining key asks to drive greater transparency and accountability across the advertising ecosystem.
