Join the the virtual launch of our flagship publication, Integrating Climate and Nature in UAE Transition Finance: Strengthening the Next Phase of Sustainable Finance.
Prepared in GCFC’s capacity as the official convenor of the UAE Consultation Group for the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), and developed in collaboration with NatureAlpha, the publication examines how nature-related considerations can be integrated into the UAE’s transition finance architecture in a practical, proportionate, and decision-useful manner.
As nature-related considerations increasingly enter the international sustainable finance baseline through the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, the ISSB’s evolving work on nature-related disclosures, and the TNFD Recommendations, the paper explores what these developments mean for transition finance in the UAE and how they can strengthen the country’s sustainable finance agenda as it moves from framework design to market execution.
The publication draws on a geospatial and financial materiality assessment of more than 2,000 UAE-located assets, identifying water availability and the condition of the UAE’s coastal and marine ecosystems as key nature-related pathways across the economy. It also maps the UAE’s sustainable finance architecture and highlights practical opportunities to embed nature-related considerations within existing frameworks and decision-making processes.
