Join NAYLA Magazine for a free one-hour Zoom event focused on empowering advocacy during pregnancy and childbirth. This session will give you essential tips to confidently communicate your needs to healthcare professionals. You’ll also learn how to advise your support systems to advocate on your behalf. And you will gain inspiring insights and advice from experienced health experts who are also moms!

This discussion will follow with a 15-minute audience Q&A, giving you the chance to have your questions answered.

Meet Your Speakers

Gio Aiello

Gio Aiello, is the passionate founder and CEO of Mindful Mommy Doula Matchmaking Agency. What started as a solo doula practice in 2017 has blossomed into a thriving community of 40+ doulas who have collectively attended hundreds of births and supported countless women. Her journey from solo practitioner to leading a team of dedicated professionals has been incredibly rewarding, fueled by a deep commitment to empowering families with love, acceptance, and intention throughout their birth processes.

Dr. Shambe Mutungi

Dr. Shambe Mutungi, an Obstetrician-Gynecologist in the Durham region, was born in Uganda and immigrated to Toronto as a child. Passionate about Global Health and underserved populations, she earned a two-year Certificate in Global Health Education during her residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Mutungi focuses on pelvic floor dysfunction and obstetrical fistulas. Committed to reducing health disparities among Black and immigrant communities, she also advocates for increasing Black representation in medicine, particularly in obstetrics and gynecology. In 2023, she earned a Master’s in Business Health Administration from the University of Toronto.
