​We would like to welcome you to the next installment of the Salon of the California Institute of Machine Consciousness!

​Spike Jonze's science fiction movie "Her" is a modern classic. In this decidedly non-distopian, non-violent treatment, he depicts a near future that has solved most of our material problems, and in which we find ourselves confronted with self improving Artificial General Intelligence, in the form of software assistants, perfectly aligned to human values and interests. How could such an entity relate to us? How does it change who we are?
