About Event

Join us for a Latinx Alumni Panel in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month featuring four Alumni from the Colin Powell School. Our accomplished alumni will share their career paths, experiences, and advice as Latinx professionals for current students and fellow alumni.

Sulafa Victoria Grijalva '18
Sulafa (she/her) is an attorney at the Community & Economic Development Clinic at CUNY School of Law. Before her current role, she worked at a private law firm specializing in international trade and customs law, beginning as a legal assistant throughout college, continuing as an attorney after law school, and interning at the U.S. Court of International Trade. While in private practice, she collaborated with Brooklyn Legal Services pro bono, providing legal support to nonprofit and cooperative entities.

Arielle Gallegos '20
Arielle is a proud alumna of The City College of New York, where she studied Anthropology and International Studies. Upon graduation, she joined Teach for America New Jersey as a corps member, where she was a classroom teacher for two years. At the end of her term, she joined the NYC Urban Debate League as a Program Manager, where she helps manage over 40 events that serve over 4,000 students across the city each year. 

Vianey Romero '09
Vianey, a proud 2009 graduate of The City College of New York with a degree in Psychology, has dedicated her career to advancing equity and empowerment for underserved communities. After completing her Master’s in Social Work, she became a licensed social worker and has since gained over 13 years of experience supporting both adults and youth. Vianey also completed an advanced certificate in Immigration Law, expanding her expertise in advocating for immigrant communities. Her professional journey has focused on providing culturally responsive services to domestic violence survivors, underprivileged populations, and immigrant families, always guided by a commitment to justice, compassion, and community strength. Through her work, Vianey continues to honor the values she cultivated at City College, transforming them into a lifelong mission of service and advocacy.

Ricardo Anez Carrasquel '20
 Ricardo is currently working as an Admissions Manager for Leadership for Democracy and Social Justice. He is a graduate from The City College of New York (2020). Upon graduation he came on to be project coordinator for the creation of LDSJ and has then served many different roles since the founding of the institute. He is passionate about social justice and developing leaders. Ricardo was born in Venezuela, grew up in Wyoming, and is now a proud New Yorker.
