Venture Capital Speaker Series (Session 2): Seed to Strategic — Conversations with an Operator turned Investor and a Corporate VC
Join the Berkeley Haas Venture Capital Speaker Series for an evening with two investors at opposite ends of the venture spectrum: one writing pre-seed and seed checks, the other investing at the growth stage for a corporate VC.
Ryan Sells, Partner at Pear, kicks things off with a fireside chat on his path from operating as the first GTM hire at several startups to VC, including launching his own fund and joining Pear. He’ll also share what makes a company defensible in the age of AI and how he builds lasting relationships with founders.
Tanvi Lal, Principal at Intuit Ventures (Haas MBA ‘22), follows with a presentation on the different types of VC funds, with a special focus on corporate VC. She’ll also cover the many ways to engage with the VC ecosystem (spoiler: it’s not just as an investor!) and how a growth-stage deal gets done, from diligence to close.
Each speaker’s session includes time for audience Q&A.
When: Tuesday, November 3, 4:00–6:00 PM
Where: Chou Hall, Room N100, UC Berkeley (2220 Piedmont Avenue)
Seating is limited, and most seats are reserved for students in the class. Registrations from the public are subject to approval.
