The BC Innovation Coalition Presents: Off-site Consumption
A low-key, recurring get-together for people working across housing delivery in the Capital Regional District, hosted by Aaron Nelson and Chris Fernando, Co-founders of the BC Innovation Coalition.
Why
Getting homes built depends on dozens of people who rarely sit down together outside of formal processes. Off-site Consumption is a regular, low-stakes space to put faces to names, share what you're working on and be curious about others' projects.
This isn’t a business development or real estate sales event. It’s for people working on how housing gets delivered.
Who should come
• Developers, builders, trades and project managers
• Architects, engineers and designers
• Planners, development approvals and permitting staff
• Building inspectors and code officials
• Municipal, regional and provincial policy staff
• Non-profit, co-op and community housing providers
• Lenders, financial institutions and funders
• Offsite construction, prefab and mass timber
• Researchers and others working on the housing delivery system
Bring someone you work with but rarely drink with. Bonus points if they're from a different category than you (see below).
Name tags
Grab a tag at the door, then try to talk to at least one colour that isn’t yours.
🔵 Blue: public sector (planning, approvals, inspections, policy)
🔴 Red: design & build (developers, builders, trades, architects, offsite, mass timber)
🟢 Green: community housing (non-profits, co-ops, advocates, research)
⚫ Black: finance (lenders, funders, investors)
What to expect
• No agenda, speakers or pitches, just conversation
• Come and go as you like
• Order what you'd like from the server
• A warm welcome from the BCIC team (Aaron or Chris)
House rules
• No pitches. Come curious and leave the sales deck at the office.
• Chatham House Rule. Share what you heard, not who said it, so everyone can speak candidly.
Registration requires a quick approval so we can keep the room focused and give Swans a headcount.
