Building Inclusive Datasets for Generative AI: Community Workshop
Dear Guest
We are excited to invite you to participate in an Inclusive Futures project exploring how emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies can be made more ‘responsible’. Currently, AI systems can entrench social inequalities and harms. Our aim is to promote alternative inclusive practices in the development of AI from ‘marginalised’ perspectives.
This workshop is led by Toju Duke from Diverse AI. We will explore how datasets of faces are created, governed, and used in Generative AI through hands-on participatory activities and group discussion. The workshop engages with real-word examples, and you’ll have the opportunity to consider:
Dataset creation – the challenges of inclusion
Data governance – understanding rights, ethics, and risks
Dataset development – hands-on experience curating a dataset
The workshop is open to anyone interested in understanding how contemporary AI is developed and the social, political and technical challenges involved. Your insights, and experiences can play a vital role promoting alternative, more ethical forms of AI.
Date & Time: Saturday 26th April 2025; 11am – 3pm (refreshments and lunch provided)
