Carbon Removal Breakfast Club: CO₂ → Fuels | E-Methanol Edition
How do we turn a CO₂ molecule into something useful?
After exploring CO₂-to-materials during London Climate Action Week, Carbon Removal Breakfast Club is back on 22 October, following one pathway: CO₂ → e-methanol.
This time, we're asking what has to become true before an e-methanol project can actually be built, contracted, insured and financed.
Featuring
Dr Nigel Steward
Professor of Practice and Director of the Centre for Sectoral Economic Performance, Imperial College London
Former Chief Scientist, Rio Tinto
Nigel brings the scientific and economic perspective, drawing on the methanol research he commissioned and his industrial experience assessing alternative fuels.
Koji Muto
Co-Founder & CEO, Ki 13
Koji brings the upstream perspective on hydrogen and biogenic CO₂ supply, and the practical economics of producing synthetic-fuel inputs.
What to expect
Around 20 people, a proper sit-down breakfast, short guided conversations and plenty of time to challenge assumptions together.
No pitch decks. Not a conventional panel.
We're particularly keen to bring together people developing real e-methanol projects, fuel buyers, technical specialists, investors, lenders and those working on contracts and risk.
CO₂ utilisation in fuels is not automatically permanent carbon removal. That distinction is part of what makes the discussion interesting.
Thursday 22 October 2026 | 9–11am | London
This is a ticketed, independently organised breakfast taking place after Carbon Unbound Europe. It is not an official conference event, and no conference pass is required.
Precise joining details are shared with approved attendees.
