This session explores the clinical spectrum of head and neck cancers, from presentation and diagnostic work-up through staging, surgical and multidisciplinary treatment to functional outcomes and follow-up, offering a practical perspective for doctors caring for patients with suspected or established head and neck malignancy.
Dr. Raina will cover:
Clinical Presentation and Diagnostic Evaluation - Recognising the presentation of head and neck cancers across sites and the role of examination, endoscopy, imaging, and biopsy in reaching a timely diagnosis.
Staging and Treatment Planning - Assessing disease extent and individualising the treatment approach according to site, stage, and patient factors.
Surgical Management - Principles and indications of surgical resection in head and neck cancers, including management of the neck.
Multidisciplinary and Adjuvant Therapy - The role of radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and systemic therapy alongside surgery in the overall treatment plan.
Outcomes, Follow-Up and Referral - Functional and oncological outcomes, surveillance for recurrence, and the importance of timely referral.
