About Event

A free conference hosted by the EEF and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation.

What does evidence tell us about metacognitive learning strategies in 16-19 education? This conference will explore this question and show it in action across a range of learning contexts.  

Join us to find out more about metacognition and how it can help your learners through engaging presentations, interactive breakout sessions and insightful discussions. 

Who should attend?

Senior and middle leaders in the 16-19 education sector (this includes FE colleges, sixth form colleges, school based sixth forms and Independent Training Providers). It is particularly recommended for those with an interest in evidence-based practice and whose role includes CPD provision and staff development. 

Please note: registration is limited to one attendee per provider. Please think carefully about who is best placed to attend.

  • Share learning: breakout sessions will focus on exemplifying metacognition across a range of 16-19 contexts (A level, GCSE English and Maths, Technical, and Vocational education)

  • Expand networks: connect with a range of individuals involved in 16-19 education, all with an interest in using evidence to inform practice

Breakout sessions

There will be four opportunities to attend breakout sessions across the day. These will be held in either the main conference room or a breakout room. Details will be available on the day.  

Once your ticket is confirmed, you will be sent a form to complete to select which breakout sessions you would like to attend.  

Breakout sessions will provide examples of metacognitive practice across A level, GCSE English and Maths, Technical, and Vocational provision. Providing opportunities to share practice and engage in discussions.  

Before registering

This is a free to attend event, with materials, lunch and refreshments included.

The event has limited capacity. Please help us to make sure as much of the sector as possible can benefit. 

We ask that you confirm your availability before registering. If your availability changes after registration, please let us know so that your place can be offered to those on the waiting list.

After registering

Registering for the event is not confirmation of a ticket.  

After you have registered, you will receive an email notifying you if your ticket has been confirmed.  

If we have multiple requests from the same setting, you will be contacted to confirm who should receive the ticket. Additional members of staff may be added to the waiting list.
