We'll be reading and discussing Gradual Disempowerment: Systemic Existential Risks from Incremental AI Development
The paper examines the systemic risks that incremental AI development could pose. In contrast to the rapid takeover scenarios frequently discussed, gradual disempowerment highlights the risks of incremental erosion of human influence across the economy, culture, and the state.
