​Wanna enjoy manga on a deeper level?

​At Academic Manga Club, we explore manga through an academic lens. But don’t worry! It’s not meant to be intimidating. No special skills, experience, or college degree are required. Everyone is welcome.

​For this event, we’ll be joined by Alexandra Lossada, Assistant Professor of English at UC Berkeley, as we take a closer look at The Summer Hikaru Died, Vol. 1.

​We’ll begin by discussing different ways manga can be analyzed academically, and then use those approaches to examine the manga together as a group.

​Tickets are $5 and include one canned drink and some light snacks.

​If you’d like to experience manga on a deeper level and discover new ways to appreciate what makes it so compelling, we’d love to have you join us!

​Participants are asked to read Volume 1 of The Summer Hikaru Died before the event. We will only be discussing Volume 1 during the event, so there is no need to read any of the later volumes.
