Spring-a-ling: the mindless mires #1
(This event is part of Spring-a-ling: a curated festival of DIY 3rd space events across the GTA. To check out more, visit the Happy Town Luma calendar.)
It's time to get out of your head and get into Scarborough! Come cultivate some no-mind on a 12 km walk through the ravines with HappyTown—and get back in time to head to the Victoria Day fireworks at Woodbine Beach.
The mindless mires brings together a group of curious people to meet up and walk in the ravines of the Greater Toronto Area. It's a space for people who love wandering conversations, without the pressure of networking or speed dating.
Route: We'll take the GO to Guildwood, walk north through Morningside Park, then follow Highland Creek Trail down to the waterfront and east to Rouge Hill GO. From there, catch a train back to Union. Or hop off at Danforth GO if you’re headed to Woodbine Beach for the fireworks.
Heads up: The route is 12 km. Some of it is unpaved—closed-toe shoes recommended. There aren't many spots to exit the trail early, so plan to do the full route. The route is a little longer and more difficult than the mindful miles walk in High Park.
There’s washrooms at both GO stations and a few spots along the way.
Bring: a water bottle, a meal to eat on the GO train, and a snack for the walk.
Taking the GO train: The full GO trip costs $6-12, depending on how you pay. You can pay with a presto card, credit, or debit. It's simple, but you can ask us for help if you need to.
PS:
Fireworks: There are fireworks at Woodbine Beach on Victoria Day at 10:00 PM. It’s a 30-minute walk south from Danforth GO, or you can take the 64 bus. This is entirely optional, rather than a part of the event itself.
