Unpacking Investor Expectations at Seed

As part of Metal's event series, this session focuses on unpacking investor preferences, specifically at the Seed stage.

At Seed, investors are no longer underwriting just vision and team — instead, they are underwriting revenue, repeatability, and the potential for breakout growth. Some investors prefer to lead rounds with strong early signals, while others prefer to follow.

In this session, we unpack how leading Seed stage VCs think about investments:

  • Signals that Matter — For a given sector (I.e. B2B SaaS or Consumer), are there specific metrics that serve as useful benchmarks for Seed rounds? How do investors evaluate retention, engagement and momentum? More broadly, what are the signals that matter?

  • Sweet Spots at Seed — Most investors have a very specific sweet spot at which they like to invest. What are some examples of these and how can founders figure out which investors might be most relevant for them at the Seed stage?

The session will leave time for a brief Q&A at the end to make the discussion interactive. The event is most useful for founders looking to raise a Seed round.
