Cafe+Nature Walk: Human Week Edition (Lower Allston)
Let's start the day off right and join neighbors for a local cafe+nature walk near you. We can step away from screens and step into the world around us. Noticing the trees, the wind, and all that's around us, as our neighbors, too.
11/12 - meet at Swissbäkers, then we’ll walk through green spaces along the Allstonway.
We'll finish by the David Rubenstein Treehouse, a 5-minute walk back to where we started. If you're looking to linger longer, you could grab additional coffee in the Treehouse at Phin Coffeehouse or at Revival Cafe across the plaza at 1Milestone.
This is a special edition cafe+nature walk as part of Boston Human Week where we will walk through an active transformation of this neighborhood that is addressing how we build a community that is connected with nature and with one another, and that is simultaneously building the future while honoring the past. We'll dig into these conversations and more while walking through the case study we are living around us in this dynamic neighborhood.
Although well-hidden, Allston-Brighton has many spaces within reach that can feel natural, even wild. In these places, our resident vocalist, the birds, and their backup band, the wind and the movement of trees, become as easy to notice as traffic or the screech of a train in the distance. With this sensory environment, along with the smell of coffee and the company of neighbors, we can remember our place in all this, as home.
We will meet in a cafe with buffer time to get a beverage and snack while people run late, and then take our time walking through the green (and blue) spaces around us. To make this simple, each person will get their own food and drinks, and if anyone needs help with the cost of food, you can share that in the registration form. Often there are more people willing to pay it forward than there are people looking for support, and enabling access to food is a priority for these initiatives generally.
A donation to @WillHansen on Venmo is completely optional; it enables these to happen, and helps us to cover costs for food when needed on any of the sessions we lead, and helps make sure we can be able to have food to eat while leading these too.
