About Groverflow
Groverflow brings you into the question - how can we undam the flow?
Taking place in the interplay between our inner and outer watersheds, the show follows a beaver named Grover trying to deconstruct the megadam that his ancestors built after being infected by a spell called Disconnectitus that numbs heads from bodies.
He is joined by the wise vulture Granny V, the shameful ostrich Shameus, Cancerroach, and the Flock, who all accompany him to divest his vest of armor and find a balanced role in restoration.
This participatory show invites us all into undamming the flow in our bodies, economies and ecologies. The play emerged in 2024 from Robin’s exploration of their cancer diagnosis, finding connections to the collective body’s movements of divestment and restoration. This iteration has been shaped by ensemble members from Playgrnd Experience with rotating directors.
The proceeds will help cover our costs and all extra will go to Run4Salmon, a prayer journey led by the Winnemem Wintu to restore salmon runs and indigenous lifeways. Our costs for this tour will be 4-5k (food, space rental, gas and honorariums for some of our ensemble. Let us know if you want to check out our transparent budgeting process). Venmo @playgrndexperience with "grover4salmon" and a donation.
COVID and accessibility: Please test beforehand and stay home if you feel any symptoms. Masking encouraged indoors for the dance party and the show will be outdoors. It is wheelchair accessible with some uneven outdoor paths. Please let us know if you have other accessibility needs when you register.
