About Event

New Tide and Golden join forces to celebrate ESEA Heritage Month with an evening of intimate journalism readings and a panel Q&A with editors from Golden to mark the call for submissions for the upcoming print issue of Golden.  Listen to compelling ESEA stories, meet with expert community reporters and learn about how and what to pitch for Golden Vol. 2. Have a drink while you connect with journalists, writers and editors. There will also be an opportunity to buy one of the few remaining copies of Golden Vol 1.

Tickets are £6 and one welcome drink is included with each ticket - there will also be an option to purchase more drinks. All proceeds will go towards supporting ESEA journalism.

However if you are facing financial hardship, please get in touch and we can gift you a free ticket, just email hello@milkteafilms.com. Paid subscribers to New Tide’s newsletter also have free entry (please DM New Tide on Instagram or email newtidemedianetwork@gmail.com). Penned by an ESEA journalist every month, the newsletter includes a list of events, opportunities and journalism recommendations from the board. Subscribe here!

More Info:

Golden is a collaboration between MilkTea, Resonate and Juniper by the Sea, a limited edition hardback annual anthology created by and for ESEA communities. We capture a year in review, reflecting on the moments, movements, and voices that shape and define our communities. Golden celebrates the breadth of ESEA creativity and thought in the UK. More than just a magazine, it's a precious cultural time capsule where ESEA perspectives take centre stage, documenting not just what we do, but how we see the world.

New Tide Media is a network that aims to strengthen ESEA voices and perspectives in journalism and bring them into mainstream media. We aim to create spaces that connect journalists and editors from the West with those from the global majority—with a focus on ESEA journalists and topics—and programming that address the gaps we see in the current media landscape. Our mission is to bring nuance and context into anglophone reporting on ESEA and push back on western-centric storytelling that flattens this rich and diverse region.
