Reimagining Black Excellence: Pathways for Success for Black Neurodiverse Youth (ages 11-17) and Families
Join Us for a Conversation on Race, Disability, Culture & Faith
Join us for an engaging and meaningful conversation exploring the intersections of race, disability, culture, and faith within Black communities. Together, we will challenge stigma, unpack cultural beliefs, and break the silence surrounding disability and neurodivergence. We will also explore ways to strengthen family connections, promote understanding, and support our youth through culturally grounded conversations and advocacy.

Founder, Sawubona Africentric Circle of Support
Sherron Grant is an elementary school Principal in Ontario with over 20 years in education and a longer career advocating for persons with special needs. She supports families, serves on boards and committees in the disability sector, and champions the removal of barriers for people with disabilities. As founder of Sawubona Africentric Circle of Support, she created a safe space for Black parents and caregivers raising a loved one with a disability. Her honours include the Humanitarian Service Award (2021), the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pin, the 2025 EKO Tribute Award for Leadership in the disability sector, and the Canada Strong Medal.
About Rooted Together
Parenting a neurodivergent child can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating school systems, diagnoses, accommodations, advocacy, cultural expectations, and finding the right supports.
Rooted Together is a welcoming monthly community space created for Black parents, caregivers, guardians, and family members raising neurodivergent youth.
Together, we will explore practical advocacy tools, educational supports, disability confidence, emotional wellness, and community resources while building meaningful connections with other families who understand the journey.
Whether your child is diagnosed, awaiting assessment, self-identified, or you are simply looking for support and information, you are welcome here.
