The Girl Math of Prenups: Navigating Marriage with Confidence
Girl Math Capital is excited to host a fireside chat with Lilli Donahue, the founder of WhatIf Legal and host of The Prenup Podcast.
Join us virtually or in-person in NYC as we break down everything you need to know about prenups, so you can enter your union with clarity and confidence.
Inspired by her own parents' costly six-year divorce without a prenup and watching friends currently navigate similar painful situations today, Lilli created WhatIf Legal to help couples align and execute their prenups and The Prenup Podcast to destigmatize prenuptial agreements through education and intentional community building by way of “getting comfortable with the uncomfortable” conversations.
Lilli will be joined by two incredible lawyers who specialize in matrimonial law in New York: Shari Bernstein, an attorney Boies Schiller Flexner, and Ruth Chung, an attorney at her own firm she’s been operating since 2018.
During this conversation, we'll dive into why prenups are essential business planning for couples, not a sign of distrust. We'll explore considerations like protecting pre-marital assets or business equity, implications of divorce without a prenup, and how to handle conversations when both partners are high-earners or founders. We will share practical guidance on timing, common pitfalls like commingling business and personal finances, and actionable steps for getting it done properly. We'll also discuss the psychological aspects, cultural pushback, and how successful founders approach this critical conversation.
