Thriving Non-Profits (TNP) is a program of Scale Collaborative that helps community organizations explore diversified and sustainable approaches to revenue generation. CSCNL partnered with Scale Collaborative to bring TNP to Newfoundland and Labrador, with funding support from the Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador through the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development.
Across two cohorts, 28 organizations from across Newfoundland and Labrador participated in TNP, exploring diversified and sustainable revenue models, strengthening their financial resilience, and putting new approaches into practice.
We'll begin with a brief look at what we've learned from the first two TNP cohorts, then hear from Lori LeDrew, Executive Director of the Office to Advance Women Apprentices NL (OAWA).
OAWA participated in the first Newfoundland and Labrador TNP cohort in 2024. During and following the program, the organization began experimenting with new approaches to revenue generation—from membership and sponsorship to social enterprise. That journey contributed to the development of Built Collective, an impact-driven renovation business creating employment, apprenticeship, and mentorship opportunities for women in skilled trades.
Lori will share OAWA's journey, what they learned along the way, and how their approach to financial sustainability has evolved.
