About Event

Your resume gets about six seconds of attention and sometimes it never reaches a human at all. A growing number of employers screen applications through applicant tracking systems that scan for keywords before anyone even touches the page.

So what actually makes it through? And once it does, what makes someone want to meet you?

In one hour, we will walk through both of our guides together.

The resume is a snapshot. We will cover the three goals it has to hit - accurate, relevant, concise - along with format, categories, and how to build bullet points that works. Every strong bullet has three parts: skill, task, outcome. Most students are only writing the first one.

The cover letter is the story behind the snapshot. It has its own three objectives - specific, qualified, interested - and we will break down what belongs in each paragraph: how to open in three sentences, how to connect the company's needs to what you actually bring, and how to close by making clear you want the interview.

And no, you do not skip it just because the application does not ask for one.

Bring your current resume, even if it's rough. Its contents, if done right, could be what lands you the next step in your career.

Note: This event has two separate time slots, one at 8AM and the other at 3:30PM. Both slots will be the exact same workshop.
