What is the AI Skills Jam for Caregivers & Community Health?

The AI Skills Jam for Caregivers & Community Health is a nationwide series of hands-on workshops that will empower caregiver support organizations, condition-specific organizations, and individuals with the confidence to use ChatGPT safely.

Attendees will be guided through instructions, explore everyday use cases, build skills with support from mentors, and leave with resources for continued learning.

Patients and families lean heavily on caregiver and non-clinical organizations for plain-language information, emotional support, and help navigating care. The goal of the Jam is to support these organizations so they can serve their communities.

Why attend?

  • Hands-on practice: Join us to learn how to use ChatGPT and get hands-on practice in a safe learning environment.

  • Beginners welcome: No coding or technical background required. Participants will get a guided introduction to ChatGPT.

  • Learn from mentors and peers: Get support from trained OpenAI facilitators and mentors, and learn alongside peers in your community.

  • Attendance is free! We’ll also provide breakfast, OpenAI swag, 12 months free of ChatGPT Plus, and we’ll send you home with a swag bag and boxed lunch.

Who should attend?

  • Individual & family caregivers who help people live with and manage their illness.

  • Caregiver support organizations that provide education, navigation, and peer support around illnesses such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and other chronic or serious conditions.

  • Condition-specific organizations that run support groups, caregiver education, hotlines, resource hubs, and lodging or transportation support for treatment.

  • The Jam is also open to individual patients who live with or have been recently diagnosed with a chronic or serious condition.

What will the Jam cover?

  • Participants will get an introduction to ChatGPT and AI safety foundations.

  • Participants, with support from partners, peers and OpenAI, will build non-clinical workflows and tools focused on patient education, resource navigation, peer support, and caregiver coordination.

  • All builds will be aligned with safety best practices, responsible use, encouragement to follow organizations’ policies, HIPAA compliance, and protecting personal health information.

It is important to note that the Jam will NOT cover any clinical topics such as diagnosis, treatment, or medical recommendations. ChatGPT does not replace qualified health care professionals for diagnosis, treatment, or medical recommendations.
