Photography Is… Inviting Empathy - From Lens to Self Festival 2026
Every photograph of another person begins with a relationship: someone looks, someone is looked at, and a distance exists between them.
How can an image help us move closer to someone else's experience? In this workshop, you will explore photography as an encounter between different perspectives.
Through guided exercises, you will reflect on presence, listening, consent and the ways we choose to represent other people.
Here, empathy means approaching with attention and curiosity, while recognising that another person's experience always holds something we can continue to listen to and learn about.
Your photographs will become prompts for examining how you look and how more thoughtful connections might be created.
