Sauna Hat Workshop

​Rhinestones, patches, buttons, a little embroidery if you’re feeling bold. Come spend an afternoon decorating a sauna hat that looks like nobody else’s.

​This one started in the Shipheads chat, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a table full of supplies, good company, something warm to drink, and a few hours to make your hat as loud or as low-key as you like. No skills needed. If you can glue, iron or stitch a button, you’re more than ready.

​Bring a hat, or grab one there

​Already have an Othership hat? Bring it along. Don’t have one yet? They’ll be available to buy on site, so you can pick one up and start decorating right away.

​Feeling extra crafty?

​You’re also invited to make a hat from scratch out of an old wool sweater. We’ll show you the basics, and you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind hat and a sweater that got a second life.

​What’s on the table

• ​Rhinestones, Othership iron-on patches, thread, needles, crochet hooks and scissors

• ​Pre-loved wool sweaters, ready to be cut and sewn into a hat of your own

• ​Othership hats available for purchase

• ​Tea, coffee and water

​Bring along (optional)

• ​Buttons, yarn, pins, charms, jewelry remnants or anything else you’d like to add

• ​An old 100% wool sweater if you’re making a hat from scratch (natural fibres only; pre-washed or felted is ideal)

There are three ways to join, and every ticket is approved by our team before it’s confirmed.

  Open to everyone. Materials are provided, so all you need to bring is yourself.

• ​Member · Free
  For active Othership members. Bring your own materials and/or sauna hat to decorate.

• ​Member + materials · $25
  For active Othership members who’d like to use the supplies on the table.
