About Lukáš:
Lukáš Likavčan is a philosopher focused on emerging technologies, ecology, and outer space. In his research, he traces intertwined histories of scientific infrastructures, ideas, and cultures that inform human efforts to sustain planetary habitability. His upcoming monograph Environmentalism Beyond Earth will be published by Bloomsbury in 2027.
Lukáš is a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and a co-founder of an outer space consultancy studio Substrate OÜ. He teaches at MA Information Design, Design Academy Eindhoven, and serves as a senior research associate at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University. Previously, Lukáš worked as a researcher at the Berggruen Institute (Antikythera think tank), and held teaching positions at NYU Shanghai, FAMU in Prague, and Strelka Institute.
Besides his academic work, Lukáš develops transdisciplinary projects that have been presented at CERN Arts, KW Berlin, Hartwig Art Foundation, Tallinn Kunsthall, Sonic Acts, Transmediale, Venice Biennale, Goldsmiths, Cambridge University, Vienna Biennale, UPenn, Peking University, Waag Futurelab, Display Prague, Die Angewandte, and many others.
