About Event

Join author Benjamin Schneider for a discussion of his new book, The Unfinished Metropolis: Igniting the City-Building Revolution, which explores why American cities have stagnated, and how the built environment can evolve to address our biggest societal challenges. Nationwide in scope, the book covers everything from housing affordability, to transit and trains, to the survival of downtowns and industrial districts.

Schneider will be joined in conversation by Angie Schmitt, a Cleveland-based writer and the author of Right of Way: Race, Class and the Silent Epidemic of Pedestrian Deaths in America. The pair will discuss the many failures of urban planning in America as well as solutions like zoning reform, complete streets, and high-speed rail. They will also explore Cleveland's unique urban planning challenges and opportunities, from the Bedrock project to the Innerbelt project.

The event is co-sponsored by Clevo Books and the Congress for the New Urbanism, Midwest Chapter.
